about…

Chris is a follower of Jesus, a husband and a father who enjoys writing, speaking, meeting new people and walking with others toward a deeper knowledge of what it means to be in relationship with God through Christ.

Most recently, Chris served as the church-planter and Lead Pastor of Awaken Church - a relational church-community in Greensboro.  Licensed and ordained in 2001, he has also served as Pastor of Discipleship in Wilson, NC, Pastor of Students in Boone, NC, and Camp Pastor for Crosspoint Christian Sports Camps. He and his wife Molly are both proud Appalachian State graduates and love the High Country, where they met and were married in 2002.  Chris is also a student, currently working on the completion of his Master of Divinity degree in Christian Education from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.  The Shelton’s became proud parents of their first child, Julia Elisabeth Shelton on September 25th, 2007, and they’re expecting the arrival of their second child in March 2009!

Chris enjoys spending time outdoors running, hiking, playing disc-golf (and sometimes golf), fishing (if they’re biting) and keeping his lawn pristine.  He also enjoys spending time hanging-out with family and friends, playing basketball, starting new projects and working part-time in graphic design and page layout.  Chris has a secret obsession with PlayStation and Wii game systems, but lacks the self-control to own one.

Chris currently resides in Greensboro, with his wife, Molly, their daughter Julia and Baby #2.  The Shelton’s are active in their neighborhood and surrounding community, where their focus continues to be on building relationships and serving their neighbors.  Chris and Molly invest in their relationship weekly by going on a date every Thursday night.

Hello Chris…we met at the WAYnet event in Wilson. I came up to you at the end of the service and spoke to you….Well I wanted to say thank you for coming to Wilson, especially on your birthday, and that what you said that night has really stayed with me. As a matter of fact we are finishing up with a Sex and Dating program in our Youth Group right now…It is really awesome to me how God is just working with a lot of young people in that area right now. Well, I am not going to keep you any longer I just wanted to say thank you and I really hope that God Blesses you and your family in a mighty way
